Founded in 1966, the Deerfield Montessori School was established as a not-for-profit corporation in response to the needs of the community. It is a private, nonsectarian school which has been fully accredited by the American Montessori Society. The Riverwoods Montessori School was founded in 1986. It was followed by a second Deerfield location, the Deerfield Montessori Children's House, and, in 1991 by the Glenview Montessori School. Each school is staffed with Montessori trained teachers certified by the American Montessori Society and the Association Montessori Internationale. In securing the services of professional and volunteer personnel, the Board strives to secure the person most qualified for the position regardless of race, gender, religion or national origin.
